Derriford Hospital – CT E1 Upgrade

Co Create Architects were appointed as lead designers for the transformation of the CT E1 suite at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, delivering a modern diagnostic hub to support growing clinical demand. The project involved the full reconfiguration of the scanner suite and the relocation of the control room, all within a live hospital environment. The new layout is designed to improve patient flow, enhance staff efficiency and futureproof the space for increased diagnostic capacity.

Building Safety Regulator
Given the location and clinical use, the scheme required careful coordination with the Trust and specialist consultants to ensure full compliance with the latest Building Safety Act regulations. As a Higher Risk Building, Derriford became our first project to be approved by the Building Safety Regulator.
Team Collaboration
Working closely with Nevada Construction, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust and the wider project team, including @coreusgroup, @expeditegroup, @johngrimespartnership and our own team at @cocreatearchitects, we helped deliver a vital upgrade that will benefit some of the region’s most vulnerable patients.
