We’re pleased to share that full planning approval has been granted for two new countryside homes in North Devon, replacing an existing dwelling on a challenging rural site.
Working alongside Base Planning for Culmex Construction Culmex Construction, the proposal rethinks how the site could be occupied. Rather than a single larger house, the scheme introduces a smaller group of buildings arranged more carefully across the plot to retain openness and reduce visual impact within the landscape.
Both homes use simple pitched forms and a restrained palette of brick, charred timber and natural slate. The intention was to create buildings that sit quietly within the site, with the focus placed on landscape, spacing and orientation rather than architectural gesture.
Each house is organised around generous living spaces facing the garden, with clear and efficient layouts designed for long term family living.
Not the easiest planning journey, but a brilliant outcome for our clients and everyone involved. Great to see this now approved by North Devon Council, with work starting on site in the coming months.
