Co Create Architects Working with The BRO Project

Each year at Co Create Architects we choose to support a charity or community organisation by offering our time and skills free of charge. It is our way of giving something back to the places and communities we work in across Devon and the wider South West.

Over the years we have been lucky enough to work with some brilliant organisations, including Theatre Alibi in Exeter, the Wild Planet Trust near Torbay and Elm Hedgehog Rescue. Each project has been different but all have shared a strong sense of purpose and care for their communities, from Exeter through to Torquay and beyond.

Co Create Architects bro project devon torbay newton abbot

This year we are delighted to be working with The BRO Project, a Community Interest Company doing important work around mental health, wellbeing and connection across Devon, including Torbay, Exeter and Plymouth.

The BRO Project have recently acquired a new site in Newton Abbot which they plan to turn into a welcoming hub for activity, support and social connection. The space will bring people together through movement, shared experiences and everyday conversation, helping to break down barriers around mental health in a natural and positive way. Its location also allows it to serve communities across Torquay, Torbay, Exeter and Plymouth.

We will be supporting the project pro bono, working alongside the BRO Project team to help shape a building that feels open, practical and full of life. A place that works hard for the people who use it, without taking itself too seriously.

Co Create Architects bro flair edited

Flair is an alternative education programme delivered by Sport and Active Education Ltd in partnership with The BRO Project, supporting young people aged 14 to 25 who have become disengaged from mainstream education. Using activity led learning, sport and practical experiences rather than a traditional classroom model, Flair helps young people rebuild confidence, develop life and employability skills and gain recognised qualifications. The programme offers a supportive, flexible environment that meets people where they are, helping them reconnect with learning and move towards positive next steps in work, training or further education.

We are really looking forward to getting started and to sharing the journey as the project develops. It is always a pleasure to work with people who care deeply about what they do and why they do it.
